Some of you may have noticed that the site was down for the past few days.
This is because the site got attacked by the dreaded Pantscow.ru attack:
http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http...
This attack adds a script tag to index pages which points to a JavaScript on their site. It also re-writes all the JavaScript files, to write that script tag to any HTML page.
It is a bitch and a half to get rid of, especially if you use a CMS (like Drupal), which has hundreds of JavaScript files, all of which have to be cleaned and re-uploaded. Instead, I just downloaded fresh CMS files and uploaded those. I've also changed the permissions on all the files to 555, changed the SFTP password, and (just to be safe) did a virus scan on my 'puter (nothing found). I also installed some extra security measures through the CMS itself and re-submitted the site using Google's Webmaster Tools.
If this is all Greek to you, don't worry about it. It just means "I fixed it."
Note: I double-checked, and no site data was compromised, so you shouldn't have to change your password or anything like that. But if it makes you feel safer, go ahead change it.
I did, however, block a bunch of new users who signed up, that I thought were probably spam. If this is not the case, contact me, and I'll unblock you.
I really apologize for even having to send this note. I just thought y'all should know what was up.
